ABOUT ME

It is my pleasure to enter into a professional relationship with you as your counselor. As a counselor I operate from a Person-centered approach. This means I will work hard to create a warm, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for us to do our work. I also use a Rational Emotive and Cognitive-Behavioral approach. I am interested in the way you think about and conceptualize things. We can use a variety of approaches based on your specific needs. I also encourage you to be an active participant in your counseling experience by asking questions and bringing your own solutions to the table. I will always provide warmth and respect in our sessions.

In addition to seeing clients, I am a full-time Associate Professor in Counseling at Appalachian State University and serve as the Chair of the North Carolina Board for Clinical Mental Health Counselors. I have over 20 years of counseling experience.

I live in Boone, NC with my partner Chasity and our son River. We also have a rambunctious dachshund named Lily. In my life outside of counseling, I am a musician and play drums professionally in two bands.
